Aunt Emmie

Hi-

I'm home again and I'm so glad I went.  It was great to talk to Emmie so often and at length but it was really hard to leave on the last day knowing that I wouldn't see her again.
I have her address and I know she'd love to hear from any of you.  The facility has a phone but there are no phones in the rooms and Emmie doesn't have a cell phone so sending a card would be a winner.  The address is:

Henry Ford Hospice

Aunt Emmie

Yesterday they put Emmie in a hospice center.  I went to see her yesterday and was happy to see that it was very clean, everyone I met was totally nice & helpful, and Emmie was comfortable.  She looks pale and weak but she is still happy to have an animated conversation.  She told me, "It's so peaceful here."  I know what she means.  She could stay in bed at home and be taken care of but she could still see the laundry that needed doing/putting away, the dirty dishes, piles that needed dealing with, etc. and she had a lifetime of knowing that was her job so it was frustrating.  Now her room is clean and restful, the bed is comfortable, she has a pretty plant, and anyone can visit any time.  I'm so glad she can rest.  The doctor told her she had between a week and a month.  Bryce, Josie, and I went to see her Wednesday and Bryce and I are going back this afternoon.  I don't know if she has a phone # there but I'll check today.

Love,

Mom

More news

Here's a bit more news.

Sylvia (Jill's Mom) is in a rehab facility working on regaining speech and movement.  Progress is slow but there is hope so please pray that she will improve.

Last night Terran graduated from Silver State High School.  He looked so cool in his blue robe and mortarboard and everyone is proud to the max.  He has a part-time job as a cashier at a Carson City Staples with the promise of being trained as a computer tech.  He plans to work part time and take classes at the community college in the fall, either in Reno and live with Chip if he can get transferred to a Reno Staples, or at the Carson community college if the transfer doesn't work.  Way to go, Ter-Bear, you're on your way!

Thanks,

Mom

A funny story from Dad

Hi again-

Dad told me this story last night and I thought it was funny:

Dad discovered a spot on his shoulder that he thought should be removed.  He asked someone about a hospital and was told to tell a taxi driver, "Paddetai nung" (hospital one).  He said that to a taxi driver who replied, "It's nunnnng.  You must pull it out through your nose, nunnnng."

Love,
